Cougars Sweep Doubleheader Against Westminster

Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College softball team swept a doubleheader against Westminster (Mo.) The Cougars, 12-5, have won eight-straight.

The Scoring - Game 1
B1 (CC) – Mackenzie Kasarda singled home Taylor Barnes, giving Columbia the early advantage. (CC 1, WC 0)
B2 (CC) –
Kacy Bergfeld doubled and later scored on a triple from Konnor Arrowood. Arrowood then scored on an RBI single by Karolina Arbova. (CC 3, WC 0)
B5 (CC) –
The Cougars scored four times on three hits, with two runs coming in on an RBI double from Allison Keen. (CC 7, WC 0)
B6 (CC) –
Abigail Pringer crossed the plate on a sac fly by Carli Buschjost. (CC 8, WC 0)

Game 1 Turning Point
The first two Cougars reached base on two errors by the Blue Jays. Those misplays led to a four-run inning.

Game 2 Turning Point
A five-run bottom of the third inning for Columbia extended their lead to 7-0.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Lexi Dickerson went the distance in the circle, tossing six innings, allowing just two singles and striking out ten. Eight different Cougars recorded a hit, while Allison Keen and Carli Buschjost drove in a game-high two runs each.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Alyssa Roll earned the win, going five innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out two. Avgustina Arbova went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI. Skyler Kauble (3) and Mackenzie Kasarda added multiple RBI.
