Softball Sweeps Rival Owls

Fulton, Mo. – The Columbia College Softball team extended its win-streak to 19-straight with a doubleheader sweep over William Woods on Tuesday afternoon.

The Scoring – Game 1
T4 – 
The Cougars got the scoring started in the fourth, as two runners scored on an Owl error. (CC2, WWU 0)
T5 – 
Taylor Barnes led off with a single and move to third on a sac bunt by Kacy Bergfeld, later scoring on an RBI double by Mackenzie Kasarda(CC 3, WWU 0)
T6 – 
Kaylie Kaufman doubled to start the inning and moved to third on a sac bunt by Skyler Kauble. Kaufman then crossed home plate on a single by Karolina Arbova(CC 4, WWU 0)

The Scoring – Game 2
T1 – 
Allison Keen started the scoring with an RBI double, scoring Kacy Bergfeld. Avgustina Arbova scored two on an RBI double. (CC 3, WWU 0)
T2 – 
Kacy Bergfeld drilled a two-run home run, and Avgustina Arbova drove in the third run of the inning on a single. (CC 6, WWU 0)
T3 – 
Karolina Arbova, Carli Buschjost and Taylor Barnes all scored runs for Columbia. (CC 9, WWU 0)
T5 – 
The Cougars added four runs, highlighted by a two-run single from Mackenzie Kasarda(CC 13, WWU 0)

An error by the Owls led to two unearned runs in the fourth inning.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Lexi Dickerson went the distance in the circle with eight strikeouts and allowing just three hits. Taylor Barnes and Mackenzie Kasarda led the offensive attack with three hits each. Karolina Arbova drove in a game-high three runs.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Mackenzie Kasarda and Avgustina Arbova tallied three hits apiece, while Arbova drove in a game-high four runs. Alyssa Roll earned the win, tossing four innings, allowing just three hits and striking out three. Madison Ramsey worked one inning in relief, giving up one hit and striking out one.
