Baseball Defeats Missouri Baptist; One Win Away From AMC Tournament Championship

O'Fallon, Mo. – After an hour and a half lightning delay to start the game, the Columbia College baseball team advanced to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) championship series with a 9-4 win over Missouri Baptist.

The Cougars are now 35-9 on the season.

The Scoring – 
T2 – 
The Spartans struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning. (MBU 2, CC 0)
B3 – 
Hayden Ludwig scored on an error, and Brad Prebay brought home two runs on a two-run home run. (MBU 2, CC 3)
T4 – 
Missouri Baptist added two more runs (MBU 4, CC 3)
B6 – 
Kenny Piper hit the third pitch of the inning over the left-field fence. (MBU 4. CC 4)
B7 – 
Justin Randle scored on a wild pitch (MBU 4, CC 5)
B8 – 
Kendrick Delima capped off the scoring with a grand slam to right field. (MBU 4, CC 9) 

Individual Leaders: 
Chris Wall earned the win, tossing eight innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out eight. Wall threw 134 pitches. Kenny Piper, Brad Prebay, Justin Randle, Kendrick Delima and Duffin Makings had hits for Columbia. The Cougars had five hits as a team, with three of those hits leaving the ballpark.

Up Next: 
The Cougar will take on Missouri Baptist with the AMC Tournament Championship on the line. If the Cougars win the 12:00 p.m. game, they take home their first-ever tournament championship. If Missouri Baptist takes the noon game, the two teams will play a winner take all game tomorrow evening.
