Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Five

Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The No. 14-ranked Columbia College women's soccer team ran its winning streak to five games with a 6-0 victory at Williams Baptist University Saturday in Walnut Ridge, Ark. 
 
Five different players found the back of the net for the Cougars, who recorded their third-straight shutout.
 
Columbia improved to 6-3-1 (2-0 AMC) while Williams Baptist fell to 0-9-1 (0-2 AMC). The win for the Cougars improved it all-time record against the Eagles to 10-0.
 
The Cougars scored early and often in the first half, taking a 4-0 advantage to half. Columbia outshot Williams Baptist 14-2 in the opening 45 minutes of play
 
It took the Cougars just six minutes to get on the board after Jewel Morelan found the back of the net. Morelan set up the second goal just five minutes later after Isabella Govero scored in the 11th minute to make it 2-0. Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco (23:49) and Natalie Peng (43:41) added tallies for the Cougars in the first half. 
 
Columbia found the back of the net twice in the second half behind an unassisted goal by Kaya Thies (51:46) and an own goal (68:24).
 
Victoria Heus made four saves to record the fourth shutout of the season for the Cougars.
 
Columbia outshot Williams Baptist 23-6 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Cougars return home to host Central Baptist College on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Noon.
