Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College women's basketball team played host to the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, marking the first ever meeting between the two programs. In a back-and-forth contest, the Cougars put together a big fourth quarter to top the Aggies 77-67 and remain perfect on the year at 4-0. This marks the first time since the 2019-2020 season that the Cougars have started their season 4-0.
Four Cougars finished in double-digit points as
Peyton Crowe came off the bench to lead the way with 18, including seven in the fourth quarter to help secure the win.
Mallory Shetley (14),
Abby Backes (13), and
Mackenzie Hess (10) were the other leading scorers for Columbia.
Columbia had great defensive contributions from
Sydney Reddin and
DeLaney Horstman as they finished with six rebounds each, while Shetley, Backes, and
Hannah Ferguson each finished with five. The Cougars went 22-28 from the free-throw line and 24-59 from the field at 40% shooting efficiency.
The Cougars play their first road contest of the season on Friday, November 11th, as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on the Grand View University Vikings. Game time is set for 6:00PM.
