Nevada, Missouri - The Columbia College women's basketball team traveled to Cottey College to take on the Comets in their first ever American Midwest Conference meetings, also marking the first time in program history that the Cougars played the Comets. Columbia would roll to a 64-42 win over Cottey College, and with the win the Cougars improve to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in AMC play.
The Cougars got off to a hot start as they lead at the end of the first quarter 20-11. In the second quarter, the Cougar defense held Cottey to just 2-17 from the field to take a 32-17 lead at the half.
The third quarter saw the Cougars' best offensive effort of the game as they shot a blistering 63% from the field, while holding the Comets to just 12%.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Cougars led 42-26. All 15 Cougars saw the court in the fourth quarter with seven different players scoring for Columbia. Although Columbia would be outscored in the fourth, it was not enough as the Cougars rolled to a 64-42 win.
Three different Cougars finished with double-digits as
Mallory Shetley lead the way with 17 points and five rebounds.
DeLaney Horstman added 15 points and six rebounds, and
Peyton Crowe followed with 10 points and four rebounds.
Hannah Ferguson and
Mackenzie Hess each had five rebounds.
