Conway, Arkansas - The Columbia College men's basketball team dropped a tight road contest to the Mustangs of Central Baptist College today on the road, ending their American Midwest Conference travel weekend with a 1-1 split. After leading by one at the half, 31-30, the Cougars were outscored by four in the second half, falling to CBC 72-75. Columbia now sits at 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the AMC, while CBC improves to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the AMC.
Despite leading in almost statistical category, the Cougars were unable to stop the hot-shooting from the Mustangs as CBC finished at 46% from the field and 53% from beyond the arc.
Four different Cougars finished with double-digit points as
Collin Parker led the way with 19 points, while
Tony Burks followed with 16 points of his own.
Marlon Allen and
Dogukan Kara each had 10 points, respectively.
Marlon Allen also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Late in the second half, with the game tied 65-65, the Mustangs used a 5-0 scoring run to take a 70-65 lead.
Tony Burks scored on a layup and closed the gap to three points, but two made free throws from CBC put them back ahead by five. As time expired, CBC would make three frows to hold on to their lead.
Trendon Tisdale made a three-pointer, but it was not enough as the Cougars ran out of time.
