Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team opened the 2022 season with a 1-0 win over York College on Thursday evening.
 
The Cougars are now 1-0 on the season, while York falls to 0-3.
 
The Scoring:

• B8 (CC) – Kellen Williamson roped a single to right field, scoring Myles Jasper from second. (CC 1, York 0)

 
Individual Leaders:

• Devyn Lopez reached base twice for Columbia with two walks, while Braden Desonia, Riley Poulton, Kellen Williamson, and David Dell led the Cougars with one hit each.
• Williamson drove in the only run of the game
• On the mound, the Cougars used three pitchers. Dan Fick started and went four innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Bryce Taylor went three innings giving up a hit and striking out two and Reece Clapp earned the win tossing two innings without allowing a baserunner and he struck out a pair of hitters.

Up Next:
Columbia and York meet again on Friday, Feb. 11 for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM. Both games will take place at Battle High School.
