Softball Wins Fourth-Straight

McPherson, Kan. – The No. 24-ranked Columbia College softball team won both games on Sunday at the McPherson Classic. The Cougars ended the weekend with a 3-0 record.   
 
Columbia has won four-straight and improves to 10-8 on the season.

The Scoring:
  • B2 (CC) – The Cougars scored four times in the inning as Skyler Kauble singled home Karolina Arbova, followed by a three-run inside-the-park home run from Taylor Barnes (CC 4, FU 0)
  • T3 (FU) – Friends got on the board on a sac fly (CC 4, FU 1)
  • T4 (FU) – An RBI triple scored another run for the Falcons (CC 4, FU 2)
  • B4 (CC) – Taylor Barnes singled up the middle to drive in Jodi Polly (CC 5, FU 2)
  • B5 (CC) – Columbia added two more runs, with the first coming on a bases loaded walk by Mackenzie Kasarda and the second coming on a sac fly from Skyler Kauble (CC 7, FU 2)
  • T6 (FU) – Friends scored three times in their half of the sixth (CC 7, FU 5)
  • T7 (FU) – The Falcons added another run (CC 7, FU 6)
 
Individual Leaders:
  • Emily King went 3-3 at the plate with a triple and a run scored.
  • Taylor Barnes drove in four runs, including a three-run home run.
  • Avgustina Arbova added two hits.
  • Ella Schouten earned the win for Columbia, tossing 3.2 innings in relief allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out eight.

Columbia hits the field for their home opener on Friday, March 25 against MidAmerica Nazarene. The doubleheader begins at 2:00 PM at Antimi Softball Complex.
