Baseball Completes Four-Game Sweep Over Viterbo

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team extended its winning streak to nine-straight after a pair of wins against Viterbo on Tuesday afternoon at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo.
 
Columbia has now won nine-straight.

Game 1 (Monday): Columbia def. Viterbo, 4-0
Game 2 (Monday): Columbia def. Viterbo, 3-2
Game 3 (Tuesday): Columbia def. Viterbo, 3-2
Game 4 (Tuesday): Columbia def. Viterbo, 10-2

The Scoring:
  • B5 (CC) – Braden DeSonia hit into a fielder's choice scoring Myles Jasper (CC 1, VU 0)
  • B6 (CC) – The Cougars added two runs with both coming off errors (CC 3, VU 0)
  • T7 (VU) – Viterbo added two runs on a single and fielder's choice (CC 3, VU 2)
 
Individual Leaders:
  • Braden DeSonia led the Cougars with two hits.
  • Indy Stanley and Bryce Torricelli had a hit each.
  • JP Schneider moved to 3-0 on the season after he went 6.0 innings of shutout ball with nine strikeouts and allowing just two hits.
  • Andrew Paten picked up his first save of the season, tossing one inning giving up one hit and striking out one hitter.  
 
Game 4: Columbia def. Viterbo, 10-2
The Scoring:
  • B3 (CC) – Columbia scored three times, highlighted by a 2-run inside the park home run from Duffin Makings. (CC 3, VU 0)
  • T5 (VU) – Viterbo scored twice in their half of the fifth. (CC 3, VU 2)
  • B5 (CC) – Columbia busted the game wide open with a six-run fifth inning. Jarrett Newel had a two-run single, Cade Carlson doubled home three, and Indy Stanley drove in the other run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded (CC 9, VU 2)
  • B6 (CC) – A V-Hawks error led to another Cougar run. (CC 10, VU 2)
