Bartlesville, Okla. – The No. 4-ranked Columbia College men's soccer team overtook the No. 9-ranked Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan this evening, 2-1.
Columbia was forceful on the offensive side recording 17 shots with six on-goal.
Liam Gibbs recorded three saves in the contest.
Oklahoma Wesleyan's third shot of the game found its way into the back of the net 18-minutes into the contest, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead into halftime.
A yellow card presented to the Eagles gave the Cougars an opportunity to get on the board. This resulted in a successful penalty kick by
Erik Rajoy, tying the contest at one apiece.
Ethan Blake put Columbia on top with a goal at the 75-minute mark, which was assisted by
Carter Redford. The Cougars went on to secure the 2-1 victory over the Eagles.
Columbia continues action in Oklahoma against No. 6-ranked Mid-America Christian (Okla.) on Monday, September 12, at 3:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
