Columbia, Mo. - The (RV) Columbia College volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Blue Jays of Tabor College. With the win, the Cougars improve to 5-7 while the Blue Jays fall to 1-14.

In the first set, both teams traded points until the Cougars took a 15-12 lead, prompting a Blue Jay timeout. Out of the timeout, an Ellie Rockers serving run pushed the Cougars lead to 20-12. Errors from Tabor followed by a kill from Beyza Bektasoglu gave the Cougars the first set win, 25-14.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick 14-7 lead in the second set. Columbia seemed to have a response for everything the Blue Jays tried, as the Cougar defense caused major problems for the Blue Jay offense. A hitting percentage of -.030 from the Blue Jays put the second set in favor of the Cougars, 25-16.

Tabor was determine to make Columbia work for the third set as they took forced a Cougar timeout early in the set. Tough serving from Luisa Ferreira opened the Cougars' scoring and put them up 14-9. Allana Capella and Danielle Prior's blocking caused trouble for the Blue Jays to help the Cougars extend their lead to 20-14. Three Cougar kills, a Blue Jay error, and a Cougar service ace ended the third set and match with Columbia winning 25-17.

Ellie Rockers led the charge with 10 kills and 10 digs, both team highs. Danielle Prior followed with eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage. 

Luisa Ferreira continued her impressive play, finishing with 33 assists, three kills, three blocks, and seven digs. 

The Cougars collected 58 team digs and 10 team blocks, while holding the Blue Jays to a .064 team hitting percentage.
