St. Louis, Mo. - The Columbia College lacrosse team advanced to the KCAC championship game after winning their semifinal contest today against Midland University; the Cougars entered the tournament ranked second, while Midland was ranked third. Columbia has never lost to Midland as their all-time record against the Warriors moves to 5-0 now.
The Cougars jumped to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors responded with four second quarter goals, closing the CC lead to 6-5 at the half. Columbia dominated the third quarter, outscoring Midland 5-2 to lead 11-7 heading into the fourth and final quarter. Midland scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, but Columbia responded within two minutes to hold their four goal lead. From there, both teams traded goals as time expired to a 15-11 win for the Cougars.
