Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College volleyball team dominated in their three set sweep over the Pirates of #17 Park University tonight at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
The Cougars picked up their 14th win of the season and sit at 14-10, while the Pirates fall to 14-8.
Columbia is back in conference play tomorrow as they host Williams Baptist University at 12:00PM.
The first set saw Columbia play out to a 22-14 lead before the Pirates started to chip away at the lead and make a comeback. Leading 23-18, the Cougars closed out the first set win with kills from
Mariana De Carvalho and
Alayna Rooks.
Both teams traded points in the second set until Columbia built a four-point lead at 18-14. Three quick points from Park cut the deficit to one, 18-17, prompting a timeout from Columbia. From there, both teams took small leads with multiple ties until Columbia scored the last two points with a block from
Alayna Rooks and
Agatha Emanuelle and a Pirates attacking error.
Up 2-0, the Cougars had their best set of the night as they rolled to a 25-16 third and final set win.
