Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College women's basketball team defeated the Braves of Ottawa University today in game two of the CoMo Classic.
The Cougars went 2-0 to claim the tournament title in the inaugural CoMo Classic that was co-hosted between Columbia and Stephens College.
Columbia got off to a quick start against Ottawa as seven different players scored in the first quarter to take a 22-13 lead. The second quarter was level as both teams recorded 15-points each.
Heading into the third quarter, the Cougars held a 37-28 lead, shooting 7-8 from the free throw line.
The Braves forced five turnovers from the Cougars in the third quarter and used a 50% shooting mark from beyond the arc to outscore Columbia 18-16.
Still leading 53-46 at the start of the fourth quarter, Columbia made nine of 14 free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 73-62 win.
