Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's basketball team rang in the new year with a 111-53 win over Central Christian College of the Bible Thursday at the Arena of Southwell Complex. The 111 points were a season high and the most since January 13, 2024.
Columbia won its second-consecutive game to improve to 10-4, while Central Christian College of the Bible played the game as an exhibition and remained at 2-9.
Collin Parker led all scorers with 25 points on 11-of-13 shooting, and is now less than 100 points of becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,783 points.
Tommy Hafer added a career-high 20 points connecting on 6-of-7 three-pointers, while
Carson Parker had a season-high 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. The Cougars hit a season-high 18 three-pointers in the win and had a 52-30 rebounding advantage.
Columbia hit its first four shots from the field and led 10-0 in the opening two minutes of play.
Collin Parker scored the first five points of the game. The Cougars followed with a 27-0 run midway through the first half to extend the advantage to 37-5.
Collin Parker had 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting in the first half for Columbia, which built a commanding 56-18 lead. The Cougars shot 53.8 percent (21-39) from the field in the first half and hit nine three-pointers.
Columbia pushed the advantage to 68-24 with a 10-0 run following back-to-back threes from
Harrison Vickers and Hafer.
Gage Johnson led Central Christian with 19 points, while James Quincy Jr. had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars continue non-conference play at Haskell Indians Nations University on Saturday, January 4 at 3 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas.
