Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball team shot a season-high 52.1 percent from the field in a 99-60 victory over University of Health and Sciences Monday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
With the win, the Cougars extended their home winning streak to 39 games dating back to 2022.
Mallory Shetley scored a game-high 20 points on 10-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, while
Mya Miller (16 points, seven rebounds),
Ashtyn Klusmeyer (13 points),
Lexi Miller (12 points, seven rebounds) and
Tori Rubel (11 points, seven rebounds) scored in double figures.
Columbia remained undefeated at 17-0 (11-0 AMC), while UHSP lost its eighth-straight game and fell to 2-14 (2-8 AMC). The Cougars, who are on of 15 undefeated teams in women's college basketball, are off to a 17-0 start for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
Columbia connected on 3-of-4 from three-point range as the Cougars opened the contest on a 15-0 run. The Cougars hit five-straight shots from the field during the run. Columbia connected on four-straight three-pointers during a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 33-9.
Shetley had eight points in the first quarter as CC took a 34-12 lead. The Cougars connected on 7-of-9 from three-point range in the quarter.
The Cougars expanded their lead to 41-13 with a 7-0 run, and the lead grew to 31 (49-18) after a bucket by
Mara Jensen with 4:41 left before half.
Columbia hit 9-of-12 from three-point range in the first half and built a commanding 58-30 lead. Shetley led the Cougars with 12 points, while Klusmeyer and
Mya Miller added 11 points each. Columbia shot 60.0 percent (21-35) from the field in the opening half.
The Cougars opened the third quarter by scoring the first 11 points to extend their advantage to 69-30. Columbia shot 11-of-19 from the field in the quarter to make it 83-42.
Karsyn Morgan scored 15 points to lead UHSP, who shot 12-of-15 from the free-throw line.
The Cougars host Hannibal-LaGrange University on Thursday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m.
