Lexi Miller tied a career-high with 21 points and
Tori Rubel recorded the first double-double of her career with 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Columbia College women's basketball team to a 74-39 victory at Harris-Stowe State University on Thursday in St. Louis.
Mya Miller also recorded the third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars, who limited Harris-Stowe to 22.6 percent (14-62) shooting and had the 63-31 rebounding advantage.
Columbia improved to 13-0 (7-0 AMC) with the win, while Harris-Stowe dropped its sixth-straight game and fell to 2-10 (1-6 AMC).
Columbia opened the game hitting 4-of-6 from the field and led 10-4, and then a corner three from
Lexi Miller made it 13-6 with 6:23 left.
Lauren Friedrich canned back-to-back threes and then
Lexi Miller hit her third triple of the quarter to cap a 9-0 run to push the advantage to 25-12.
Lexi Miller had nine points lead the Cougars as they led 25-14 after 10 minutes of play. Columbia hit 5-of-10 from three-point range.
The Cougars pounded the ball inside early in the second quarter as back-to-back buckets from Rubel pushed the lead to 29-14. Miller's layup with 3:18 to play gave the Cougars their largest lead of the first half at 39-18.
Lexi Miller had 16 points and Rubel added 10 as Columbia led 39-21 at the break. The Cougars limited Harris-Stowe to 28.1 percent shooting (9-22) in the first half and outrebounded the Hornets 31-16.
Mya Miler scored nine-straight points to highlight a 17-0 run to open the quarter as the lead grew to 56-21. The Cougars outscored Harris-Stowe 27-3 in the third quarter.
Cailynn Dilosa led Harris-Stowe with 22 points on 9-of-26 shooting.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, January 11 at Stephens College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
