Men's Soccer Shuts Out UHSP at Home

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College men's soccer squad rolled to victory this afternoon, securing a commanding 8-0 shutout victory over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (Mo.), improving to 6-4-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) action.

Joshua Peterson led the offensive onslaught with two goals, while Josh Sutton, Lindo Zimba, Charlie Lafata, Trenton Garofalo, and Paul Morpurgo each found the back of the net. An own goal opened the scoring just four minutes into the match.

Cameron Watts orchestrated the attack with two assists, while Brady Freeman, Parker Rainwater, and Bodie Rollins each contributed one.

The Cougars controlled possession throughout, outshooting UHSP 32-1 and earning 13 corner kicks to the visitors' one. Goalkeeper Osman Naz recorded the clean sheet in the first half, while Mason Beck preserved the shutout in the second. UHSP goalkeeper Christian Morales was busy all match, making 13 saves.

Columbia built a 3-0 halftime advantage before adding five more goals in the second period to complete the dominant performance.

The Cougars return to action against No. 9 Bellevue University (Neb.) at home on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m.
