COLUMBIA, Mo. - The (RV) Columbia College women's soccer team battled their way to a 2-0 shutout victory over Stephens this evening at home, improving to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play.
Macie Vincent broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, finishing a well-placed assist from Hannah Shylanski to give Columbia the crucial early advantage.
Goalkeeper Natalie Allison made three saves to preserve the clean sheet, earning her sixth win of the season. The Cougars applied consistent pressure throughout the match, outshooting Stephens 29-4. The Stars goalkeeper, Petra Brncova, made an impressive 12 saves, keeping the match competitive.
Columbia's persistence paid off late when Delaynie Brown sealed the victory in the 81st minute off assists from Renata Mendez and Bleda Beto, finally breaking through Stephens' determined defensive effort.
Madeleine Shylanski led the offensive charge with seven shots, while Vincent added six in her goal-scoring performance. Izzy Cole and Georgia Pardalos each contributed four and five shots respectively in the attacking showcase.
Columbia returns to their home field taking on Bellevue University (Neb.) in non-conference action on Wednesday, October 15th at 4:30 p.m.
