Women's Soccer Beats Bruins, Wins Seventh Game in a Row

COLUMBIA, MO- The Columbia College women's soccer team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Bellevue University 4-2 this evening at R. Marvin Owens Field, extending their winning streak to seven games and improving to 7-4-1 on the season. The victory also snapped Bellevue's five-game winning streak.

Bellevue struck first in the 12th minute when Prescillia Casu found the net off an assist from Katrina Avila. Columbia answered quickly as Georgia Pardalos converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to level the match at 1-1, notching her eighth goal of the season.

Macie Vincent gave the Cougars their first lead in the 41st minute, finishing a well-placed assist from Renata Mendez for her fifth goal of the season. However, Bellevue responded before halftime when Adi Kasel equalized off an assist from Mia Hurt, sending the teams into the break tied at 2-2.

Columbia's persistence paid off early in the second half when Madeleine Shylanski broke the deadlock in the 49th minute off an assist from Pardalos, giving the Cougars a 3-2 advantage.

Hannah Shylanski sealed the victory with a crucial late goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Delaynie Brown, capping her fifth goal of the season and securing the 4-2 final.

Goalkeeper Natalie Allison was outstanding, making seven saves to preserve the victory and earn her seventh win of the season. Pardalos led the offensive effort with a goal and an assist, while the Cougars demonstrated balanced scoring with four different players finding the back of the net.
