Fulton, Mo. - Columbia College volleyball couldn't maintain their early momentum on Tuesday night, falling 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 20-25, 17-25) to William Woods. The Cougars dominated the opening set but were unable to sustain that level of play through the final three frames.
Mila Zoric led the Cougars' offense with 10 kills and a team-high 15 total points, while Isabella Kincaid and Viola Giangreco each added seven kills respectively.
Hannah Vogt orchestrated the offense distributing 20 assists and added three service aces, while Alexa Olson contributed 11 assists. From the service line, Vogt, Olson, and Jillian Aholt combined for six aces.
Defensively, Taylor Johnson anchored the back row with 12 digs, while Vogt added nine digs and Emma Faulconer contributed seven digs in the effort.
Columbia College came out strong in the first set, jumping to a 10-4 lead behind excellent team play and hitting .385 for the frame. The Cougars cruised to a 25-14 victory with contributions from across the lineup. However, William Woods responded with a 9-0 run in the second set to seize momentum and took control of the match from that point forward.
The Cougars fall to 9-12 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next match as they continue conference play.
