Men's Soccer Draws Against Hornets

Columbia, MO – Columbia College men's soccer played to a 0-0 tie against Harris-Stowe State University on Friday at home, maintaining their strong conference position despite being unable to find the back of the net.

Columbia returns to action tomorrow on the road to close out the regular season with a contest against Central Baptist College.

The Cougars (8-5-3, 4-0-1 AMC) outshot the Hornets (7-6-3, 4-1-1 AMC) 11-5 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks, but solid goalkeeping from Harris-Stowe's M. Pereira da Silva kept Columbia off the scoreboard.

Columbia controlled much of the offensive pressure, with Cameron Watts and Joshua Peterson each recording two shots on the night. Sidiki Kromah also put two shots on target after entering as a substitute, while Faraj Shee contributed a shot on goal in his time on the pitch.

Despite the attacking opportunities, Columbia goalkeeper Mason Beck had a relatively quiet evening, making just one save while facing only five total shots from the Hornets. The Cougars' defense limited Harris-Stowe's scoring chances throughout the match.
