Zimba's Brace Powers Cougars Past Viterbo 3-1

COLUMBIA, Mo.Lindo Zimba netted two goals and Cameron Watts tallied a pair of assists as Columbia College defeated Viterbo 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at home, improving to 4-4-2 on the season.

The Cougars fell behind early when Jokubas Jancauskas put Viterbo ahead in the 13th minute, finishing off an assist from Alvaro Paquete Olive for his ninth goal of the season.

Columbia responded quickly, however, with Zimba equalizing in the 21st minute off a feed from Watts. The duo connected again just before halftime, as Watts delivered another assist to Zimba in the 45th minute to give the Cougars a 2-1 advantage heading into the break.

Columbia maintained control throughout the second half, weathering a yellow card to Connor Lovell in the 61st minute and a red card to Wil Essner in the 77th minute that reduced the Cougars to 10 men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Columbia sealed the victory when Brady Freeman scored in the 81st minute, assisted by Parker Rainwater, for his second goal of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Osman Naz earned the win with three saves on four shots on goal, improving his record to 2-2-0. Konstantin Tskhadadze took the loss for Viterbo (6-2-2) despite making two saves.
