Cougars Win Twice in Arkansas

PARAGOULD, Ark. – Columbia College volleyball continued its dominant conference play Friday, sweeping both matches of a doubleheader at Paragould, Arkansas to improve to 17-14 overall and 14-1 in the American Midwest Conference. The Cougars now sit in first place in the conference standings.

The Cougars defeated Crowley's Ridge 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 27-25) in the morning match before following up with another 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-23, 25-14) over UHSP.

Match 1: Columbia 3, Crowley's Ridge 0

Isabella Kincaid dominated the attack with 12 kills on a .353 hitting percentage while adding 12 digs for a double-double. Viola Giangreco contributed seven kills and three solo blocks, while Emma Breier added seven kills on a .357 hitting percentage.

Alexa Olson orchestrated the offense with 19 assists and two kills, and Hannah Vogt chipped in 17 assists with two service aces. Samira Baltazar finished with seven kills.

Rita Marques led the back row with 15 digs, while Taylor Johnson added 13 digs. Kenedi Canty contributed five kills and a block assist.

Columbia cruised in the first set, hitting .500 while building a comfortable lead. The second and third sets were tightly contested, with both going to extra points. The Cougars showed composure in critical moments, rallying from a 24-23 deficit in set two to win 27-25, then closing out another 27-25 victory in the third set.

Match 2: Columbia 3, UHSP 0

Kenedi Canty had an outstanding offensive performance with eight kills on a .250 hitting percentage and three block assists. Isabella Kincaid added 10 kills, while Samira Baltazar chipped in six kills.

Hannah Vogt once again controlled the offense with 16 assists while hitting 1.000 on two attempts, and Alexa Olson contributed 13 assists and two service aces.

Rita Marques was a force on defense with 14 digs and one service ace, while Taylor Johnson added seven digs and two service aces. Viola Giangreco finished with five kills and three block assists.

The Cougars' offensive efficiency improved throughout the match, hitting .108, .180 and .250 in the three sets respectively. Columbia dominated the third set, using a strong serving run to pull away for the 25-14 victory. The Cougars held UHSP to just .009 hitting for the match while recording six solo blocks and 10 block assists.
