Georgia Pardalos converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute to lead the Columbia College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Harris-Stowe State University in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament Championship at R. Marvin Owens Field.
Columbia improved to 12-4-2, while Harris-Stowe fell to 7-7-5.
The Cougars will now wait to learn their NAIA National Tournament Opening Round destination until the NAIA Selection Show on November 14th at 6:00 PM.
With the win, the Cougars secured their 11th-straight and 12th overall AMC Tournament Championship, extending the most dominant run in conference history.
The lone goal came late in the second half when Pardalos was awarded a penalty kick and calmly finished for her 14th goal of the season. The unassisted strike proved to be the difference in a tightly contested defensive battle.
Columbia controlled possession throughout the match and outshot Harris-Stowe 10-3, with the Cougars putting four shots on frame. The Hornets were held without a shot on goal for the match.
Natalie Allison earned the shutout in goal for Columbia, recording the win without needing to make a save as the Cougar defense limited Harris-Stowe's opportunities.
Columbia outshot the Hornets 5-2 in the first half and 5-1 in the second half.
