Columbia, Mo. - Columbia College women's soccer dominated from start to finish, blanking Heath Sciences and Pharmacy 7-0 on Friday night at home to advance to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) tournament championship game.Â
The Cougars wasted no time establishing control, with Brooke Williams opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Madeleine Shylanski and Ayanna Clarke added goals before halftime to give Columbia a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
The second half brought more of the same, as Georgia Pardalos recorded a brace with goals in the 46th and 68th minutes, the latter coming on a penalty kick. Shylanski netted her second goal of the match in the 52nd minute, and Bleda Beto capped the scoring in the 74th minute.
Georgia Pardalos paced the attack with a pair of goals, pushing her season total to 13, while Madeleine Shylanski matched her with two goals of her own to reach six on the year. Macie Vincent provided the helper on Shylanski's opening strike.
Columbia outshot UHSP 25-11 and held a significant advantage in shots on goal, 12-5. Goalkeeper Natalie Allison earned the shutout victory with five saves, improving to 10-4-2 on the season.
With the win, the Cougars advance to the championship final game set for Monday, November 10th in Columbia at 6 p.m. against the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University. This match-up will be the third time these teams meet in the conference championship match and fight for an automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.Â
