Cougars Keep Pace in AMC with Road Win

Paragould, Ark. – Collin Parker led three players in double figures with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Columbia College men's basketball team to an 83-53 win at Crowley's Ridge College Saturday in Paragould, Ark.
 
Columbia won its sixth-straight game to improve to 18-5 (11-2 AMC), while Crowley's Ridge had its two-game win streak snapped and fell to 13-8 (7-4 AMC). The Cougars remain in third place in the AMC standings, one game behind first place Central Baptist and William Woods.
 
Seth Larson (15 points, five rebounds), Kai Steinman (13 points, six rebounds, five assists) and Nate Brandt (11 points) also scored in double figures for Columbia, which shot 48.4 percent (30-62) from the field in the win. Beau Washer also filled up the stat sheet off the bench with four points, eight rebounds and five assists.
 
The Cougars hit their first five shots from the field and led 11-2, and then a wing three by Steinman extended the advantage to double figures (14-4) just four minutes into the contest.
 
The Cougars went on a 9-2 run to extend the lead to 25-8 with 9:19 to play and forced the Pioneers' third timeout of the half. CRC got back into the contest with a 13-2 run to trim the advantage to six (27-21), but a three-pointer by Collin Parker and two free-throws by Washer got the lead back to double figures.
 
Columbia scored the final 13 points of the first half to take a commanding 47-28 lead as Collin Parker led all scorers with 15 points and Steinman added nine. The Cougars shot 50.0 percent (18-36) from the field in the first half.
 
A pair of 7-0 runs by the Cougars early in the second half pushed the advantage to 63-35 with 14:51 to play, and then a 9-0 run by Columbia put the game out of reach at 75-41.
 
Lamont Jackson had 13 points to lead Crowley's Ridge, which shot its season-lowest percentage (30.9 percent) from the field in the loss.
 
The Cougars host No. 14-ranked William Woods University on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. 
 
NOTES: Columbia has won three all-time meetings between the two teams ... The loss at home for Crowley's Ridge was just its second of the season (10-2) ... The double-double for Collin Parker was his 12th of the season ... Carson Parker became the 11th player in program history to record 600 or more rebounds (605) and moved into 25th on the all-time scoring list with 1,050 points.  ... The Cougars have scored 80 or more points in 12-straight games ... Collin Parker upped his career point total to 1,986.
