Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's basketball team drained 15 three-pointers to secure its 20th win of the season following a 95-75 victory over Harris-Stowe State University Thursday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
Columbia won its second-straight contest to improve to 20-6 (13-3 AMC), while Harris-Stowe fell to 7-17 (4-12 AMC) with the loss.
Collin Parker led the Cougars with 24 points and eight rebounds, while
Kai Steinman (17 points, 5-of-5 3FG),
Seth Larson (13 points, nine rebounds) and
Carson Parker (10 points, four assists) also scored in double figures.
The Cougars shot 51.6 percent (32-62) from the field and hit 16-of-19 from the free-throw line in the win. Columbia also registered 20 assists.
Columbia went on a 12-0 run behind a pair of threes from Steinman and
Tommy Hafer as CC built a 22-13 lead with 12:20 left.
Collin Parker's three off the window extended the advantage to double figures (25-15), and then he drilled a wing three to make it 32-19.
The Cougars extended their advantage to 20 (46-26) with an 8-0 run behind threes from Steinman and
Nate Brandt, and took a 51-33 lead to half.
Collin Parker had 15 points while Steinman had 12 on 4-of-4 three-point shooting as the Cougars hit 10 threes in the first half.
Collin Parker picked up where he left off in the first half with back-to-back threes as Columbia led 59-40 early in the second half. The lead grew to 21 (63-42) following a four-point play by
Harrison Vickers.
Harris-Stowe chipped away with a 6-0 to trim the advantage to 70-53, but
Beau Washer hit a bucket and a pair of free-throws to get the lead back to 74-53 with 9:05 to play.
Bennie Amos III (19 points, six rebounds, six assists), Ty Lampley (19 points) and Seth Chargois (18 points, six rebounds, five assists) scored in double figures for Harris Stowe, which shot 45.8 percent from the field in the loss.
The Cougars have a week off before traveling to No. 20 Central Baptist College on Thursday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m.
