Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College men's lacrosse team played host to the Owls of William Woods University for Senior Day as the Cougars recognized
Caden Blevins and
Tanner Jones.
The Cougars started the game strong with goals from
Dylan Forbeck,
Drake Morrissey, and
Brock Pleis to lead 5-3 at the end of the first quarter.
A back and forth second quarter saw WWU outscore Columbia 4-3, but CC held the advantage at half still, 8-7.
The Owls took advantage of multiple man-up opportunities in the third quarter while also holding the Cougars scoreless and took the lead by the end of the third, 11-8.
WWU converted on another man-up opportunity to start the fourth quarter, but a goal from
William Rusk stopped the scoring run. Trailing 16-9,
Nico Andrews scored for the Cougars as Columbia looked to continue their run, but as time expired CC was unable to get any closer.
With the loss, the Cougars end the regular season 6-7 overall and a conference mark of 6-3.
Columbia now looks to the Heart of America Conference tournament with a quarterfinal matchup this Saturday.
