COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Columbia College baseball team opened up the second week of conference play today against the Patriots of Mission University.
The Cougars got out to an early lead in the second inning, but Mission was able to tie it back up in the fourth. Columbia remained in the fight, tying the game at seven apiece in the ninth to go into extra innings. Mission was able to pull away in the 12th inning with a two-run homerun by Zachary Beatty.
The Cougars fall to 11-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play.

- Braden Hemmer led the offensive charge ending the day 1-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored, and two walks
- Joey Marcinkiewicz homered in the second to give the Cougars an early lead
- Hunter Shoulta had a two-hit day and scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth to tie the game
- Zac Fruend scored on a Braden Hemmer single to take the game into extras
- Tyler Renn contributed a double in the third and Colton Nichols tripled in the eighth
