CROWLEY'S RIDGE, AR — The Columbia College softball team swept a doubleheader against Crowley's Ridge College on Friday at Pioneer Park, winning Game 1 by a score of 3-0 and Game 2 by a score of 11-1. The Cougars move to 11-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Game One: CC def. Crowley's Ridge, 3-0
- Ella Schouten (W, 5-2): 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 SO
- Schouten retired 14 of 25 batters via strikeout in a complete-game shutout
- Cassidy Avery delivered the go-ahead hit with a two-run single down the right field line in the fourth inning, scoring Rosalie Schneider and Taryn Hagardt
- A third run scored unearned when Avery was caught stealing and Wriley Taylor came home on the throw
- Schneider and Hagardt each finished 2-for-4 to pace the offense
Game Two: CC def. Crowley's Ridge, 11-1
- Micaiah Cordell: 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO; Megan Graver (W, 2-2): 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 SO
- Columbia sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five times in the first inning, aided by three Crowley's Ridge errors
- Taryn Hagardt went 5-for-5 with four runs scored
- Wriley Taylor drove in four runs, including a two-run single in the seventh inning
- Kennedy Schanuth added an RBI single in the seventh to cap the scoring
