COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia College softball team split a home doubleheader with No. 17 Central Methodist University on Wednesday at Antimi Softball Complex, falling 2-1 in the opener before rallying for a walk-off 3-2 victory in game two. The Cougars improve to 12-10 overall.
Game One: #17 CMU def. Columbia College, 2-1
- Ella Schouten (L, 5-4): 7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO
- Taryn Hagardt led Columbia's offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate
- Tasia Green scored on an Abigail Zismer fielder's choice in the seventh to pull the Cougars within one, but Columbia couldn't complete the comeback despite collecting nine hits
Game Two: Columbia College def. #17 CMU, 3-2
- Kennedy Jensen (W, 3-1): 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER; Micaiah Cordell: 2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER; Megan Graver (S, 1): 0.1 IP, 0 R
- Kennedy Schanuth drove in the first run of the game with a single up the middle in the first inning, and Abigail Zismer added an RBI single in the second to make it 2-0
- With the game tied at two in the bottom of the seventh, Eleanor Schudel singled and came around to score the walk-off run on a Schanuth single to left field
- Schanuth finished 2-for-4 with two RBI; Schudel went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and scored the winning run; Hagardt added two hits and a stolen base
