QUINCY, IL — The Columbia College softball team split a doubleheader with Quincy University on Sunday at the Mart Heinen Complex, winning the opener 3-1 before falling in the second game 8-0. The Cougars are now 9-7 on the season.
Game One: CC def. Quincy, 3-1
- Kennedy Jensen (W, 2-1): 7.0 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 SO
- Wriley Taylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in the first inning to give Columbia an early 2-0 lead
- Liz Enlow led off the second with a single and scored on a wild pitch to extend the Cougar advantage to 3-0
- Quincy's only run came in the fifth on a Makala Koozer RBI single
- Abigail Zismer finished 2-for-4 to pace the offense
Game Two: Quincy def. CC, 8-0
- Megan Graver (L, 1-2): 3.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO
- Quincy's Hailey Platt tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out two
- The Hawks scored in five of six innings, capped by a four-run sixth that put the game out of reach
- Columbia stranded 12 baserunners and went hitless in scoring opportunities
