COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 21-ranked Columbia College women's soccer rolled past Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 6-0 on Thursday at R. Marvin Owens Field, scoring three goals in each half to improve to 5-1-1.
Ella Bredensteiner scored twice while Columbia added solo goals from Macie Vincent, Georgia Pardalos and Zoe Lockhert, along with a first-half own goal, in a match Columbia controlled from start to finish. The hosts outshot Mid-America Christian (3-3-1) 27-10.
Bredensteiner opened the scoring in the seventh minute, and Vincent made it 2-0 two minutes later off an assist from Pardalos. An own goal by Mid-America Christian in the 12th minute pushed the lead to 3-0 by halftime.
After the break, Bredensteiner struck again in the 51st minute, finishing a feed from Rowyn Blanke for her second goal of the game and eighth of the season. Pardalos scored in the 70th minute, also assisted by Blanke, before Lockhert closed out the scoring in the 83rd minute with her first goal of the year.
Columbia used two goalkeepers to secure the shutout. Charlie Williams made two saves in the first half, and Abbie Summers stopped three shots after the break.
The Cougars return to action on Sept. 14 as they host (RV) University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m.
