Lancers Top Cougars in Top-25 Showdown

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Columbia College dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 8 Grace on Saturday afternoon at 1st Source Bank Field, as the Lancers converted a pair of first-half goals just 97 seconds apart to hand the Cougars their first loss of the season.

Grace (4-0-1) struck twice in the opening 15 minutes. Audrey Abel opened the scoring in the 11th minute off assists from Abby Hodkin and Heidi Kever, and Cassidy Felger doubled the lead just over a minute later, finishing a feed from Rosalie Gefrorer to make it 2-0 in the 13th minute. Columbia would not find an answer the rest of the way.

The Lancers held a heavy edge in shots, out-attempting the Cougars 17-8, including a 10-2 advantage in the first half. Columbia goalkeeper Charlie Williams kept the game from getting further out of hand, turning away six shots on goal across the full 90 minutes.

Columbia's best offensive looks came in the second half, with Macie Vincent and Georgia Pardalos each testing Grace keeper Ivy Cline twice, but Cline finished with a clean sheet on four saves to secure the win.

The Cougars did get a break late when Grace's Hollie Robinson missed a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but Columbia couldn't capitalize with an offensive push of its own in the closing minutes.

Columbia was whistled for 11 fouls compared to four for Grace, and the two sides split the corner kick battle closely, with the Lancers holding a 5-4 edge.

The loss snaps Columbia's unbeaten start to the season. The Cougars will look to regroup as they continue their road trip.
