Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 shutout win over Lyon (Ark.) College on Saturday afternoon, marking their fifth consecutive victory dating back to September 26
th. With the win, Columbia improves to 10-2-1 overall on the season and 7-1 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
The Cougars got a pair of early goals in the first period and took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Tori Magaletta got the scoring started with her sixth goal of the season with just over five minutes gone by in the opening half. Freshman
Carlie Howe followed with her fifth goal of the season in the 10
th minute. Columbia totaled 19 shots in the first 45 minutes, but was unable to add to their lead heading into the locker room. The Cougars tacked on another goal coming out of the break as
Rylee Bruhn scored just under three minutes into the second period. The 3-0 lead was more than enough for the Columbia defense, who limited the Scots to just seven shots for the game.
Freshman
Flavia Rosado picked up the win in goal for the Cougars with three saves.
Stephanie Hale added her league-leading 16
th and 17
th assists on Columbia's two first half goals.
The Cougars will host league rival Park (Mo.) University in their next game on Thursday, October 17
th in a matchup of the top two teams in the AMC. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
