Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar women's soccer team tied 11th-ranked Kansas Wesleyan University 1-1 on Sunday afternoon at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium. With the tie, both teams move to 1-0-1 to begin the season.

Senior Rylee Bruhn got Columbia on the board midway through the first period with a goal off a corner kick from Stephanie Hale at the 23:24 mark. The Cougars got their chance to go up by two goals with less than five minutes to play in the half when Sandra Mendonca pulled the keeper out of the box, but her shot hit the right goalpost leaving Columbia with a one goal advantage at the halftime break. Kansas Wesleyan outshot the Cougars 4-2 in the frame.

The Coyotes would pull even less than ten minutes into the second period as Evelyn De La Rosa snuck behind the Columbia defense to tie the contest. Despite a handful of opportunities for each squad down the stretch, neither team could break the tie over the remainder of regulation.

Following a scoreless first ten minutes of extra play, Kansas Wesleyan narrowly missed a pair of game-winning opportunities in the second overtime as goalkeeper Erica Ramirez came up with two critical saves. Both sides would threaten over the final minutes, but each defense held to force the 1-1 draw.
