Women’s Soccer Ends in Double Overtime Tie With Eagles

Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar women's soccer team played a scoreless double overtime tie tonight against Avila University. The Cougars move to 0-2-1 on the season while the Eagles are 0-1-1.

The Cougars had many chances, but couldn't quite find the back of the net. Sixty minutes into the game, Katelyn Palmer took a strike that hit the post. The Cougars had a second chance 71 minutes in when Kelli Westhues took a shot that just missed the crossbar. Finally, in the first overtime, Mercedes Kercado had a shot that just barely missed the top of the net.

Columbia College outshot Avila 22 (seven on-goal) to seven (four on-goal) for the match. Flavia Rosado picked up four saves in goal for Columbia.

The Cougars will be back at it on Saturday, September 6th when they take on Missouri Valley College. Match time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
