Box Score Clinton, Iowa- The Columbia College women's soccer team dropped another contest today, falling to No. 20 Ashford University 3-0 on the road. The loss drops the Cougars to 0-3-1 overall while the Saints improve 4-3-0.
The Saints took the lead early when junior midfielder Danielle Boyd found the back of the net in the 5
th minute of play. The scoring would remain quiet until the second half when Ashford scored again in the 66
th minute when Courtney Babut struck off an assist by Amanda McCray. Columbia College had the chance to score when
Kelli Westhues and
Taylor Hagenhoff both hit the crossbar after striking just minutes apart. The last goal came with just six minutes left in the match, when Ashford took a shot in the box that ricocheted off of Westhues for the goal.
Ashford outshot Columbia College 11(8 shots on goal) to 6 (4 shots on goal) for the match.
Flavia Rosado picked up six saves in goal for Columbia.
The Cougars return home and begin American Midwest Conference action on Saturday, September 20th. Columbia faces Freed-Hardeman in a 4:30 p.m. contest at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
