Box Score Olathe, Kan. - The Columbia women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 road victory over Mid-America Nazarene University on Wednesday night. The Cougars improve to 3-0 on the young season, while the Pioneers fall to 1-1-1.
The Pioneers jumped ahead first as Kalyn Pfaff found the back of the net in the 30
th minute. Sophomore
Tiffany Weaver responded with a goal of her own in the 37
th minute to knot the score.
Laurie Frew assisted on the play. With less than a minute to go in the first half, Frew headed in a perfectly played ball from
Molly Burke to put Columbia up 2-1 going into the halftime break. The Cougar defense held the Pioneers throughout the second half despite being outshot to claim the victory.
MNU outshot the Cougars 15 (6 shots on goal) to 7 (4 shots on goal) for the match. Junior
Flavia Rosado earned the win with five saves in goal for Columbia.
The Cougars will be back at it on Wednesday, September 9
th when they travel to Missouri Valley College. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.
