Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College women's soccer team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy at St. Louis University High School. The Cougars defeated the Eutectics by a score of 11-0 to improve to 6-0-2 and stay unbeaten on the season.
Columbia College got off to a quick start in the game controlling the pace from the opening kickoff.
Laurie Frew had the first goal for the Cougars when
Jordan Poire made a run down the sideline before finding Frew on the cross for her sixth goal of the season just eight minutes into the first half. The Cougars added to their lead nine minutes later when
Laurie Frew found
Tiffany Weaver who buried her shot in the lower right hand corner of the net for her third goal of the season.
The Cougars added their third goal of the contest 43 minutes into the game when
Kelsey Mirts was able to beat several defenders including the Eutectic keeper and slid the ball into the back of the net to put Columbia College up 3-0. Mirts was back at it again just 50 seconds later when she headed a cross from
Tiffany Weaver into the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season. The Cougars outshot the Eutectics 22-0 in the first half including 17 shots on goal.
The second half was much of the same for the Cougars as they came out of the break dominating the possession.
Molly Klein started the scoring in the second half 16 minutes in when she received a ball over the top of the defense from
Taylor Hagenhoff and finished her breakaway shot to put the Cougars ahead 5-0.
Lucy Kingsley added to the Cougars lead three minutes later when she blasted her shot into the upper right hand corner of the net off a pass from
Molly Burke for her second goal of the season.
Molly Klein added her second goal of the game 25 minutes into the half when
Emma Laney slotted a ball to Klein who was making a run into the box and Klein was able to slip it past the Eutectic keeper to put the Cougars up 7-0. Klein completed her hat trick five minutes later when she finished a cross that was played in by
Katie Cook for her fifth goal of the season.
Emma Laney tallied her first goal of the season when she was able to steal the ball away from the Eutectic defender at the top of the box and blasted her shot into the upper right hand corner of the net.
Molly Burke and
Katie Cook finished off the scoring late in the second half to put the Cougars ahead 11-0. The goal from Burke was her first of the season and Cook's was her second. The Cougars finished the game with 42 total shots including 28 on target.
Flavia Rosado and
Madison Boyken split time in goal for the Cougars tonight as both keepers contributed to the shutout victory. With the shutout tonight, the Cougars continue their streak of seven straight games without allowing a goal.
The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday, September 21
st when they travel to Ottawa, Kansas, to take on Ottawa University. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
