Columbia, Mo. – The NAIA national office announced the seventh NAIA Women's Soccer Poll for the 2017 season. The Cougars, who ranked fifth in the last poll, dropped four spots to number nine after going 2-1 since the last poll was released on October 10th.
The Cougars have been on fire all season long as they currently sit at 15-1 on the season and 9-1 in the AMC. As a team, they rank first in the NAIA in both shutouts per game (0.810) and total shutouts (13) while ranking second in total goals (69) and third in shots per game (25.880). In addition, they also rank fourth in both total assists (55) and goals per game (4.310) while ranking seventh in both assists per game (3.440) and shots on goal per game (13.560).
Columbia College has been led by Laurie Frew who currently ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA in five offensive categories including first in total game winning goals (7), third in total points (49), fifth in total goals (19), sixth in total assists (11), and ninth in points per game (3.060). To go along with Frew, Kelsey Mirts also ranks fifth in the NAIA in total points (44), ninth in total assists (10), and 11th in total goals (17).
The Cougars will return to the field on Tuesday, October 24th when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on Central Baptist (Ark.) College in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
