Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the fifth regular season Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Cougars remained fifth after defeating Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University and Williams Baptist (Ark.) College this past week to remain undefeated at 11-0 on the season.
The Cougars are ranked in the top 10 in eight different categories. They currently rank first in total goals (52) and total shutouts (9). They rank second in shots on goal per game (13.910) and shutouts per game (.820). They are ranked third in shots per game (26.090) and sit in fourth for total assists (37) and goals per game (4.730). In addition, they currently rank sixth in assists per game (3.360).
The Cougars are led by Laurie Frew who ranks in the top 25 in nine different categories. She currently sits first in total game winning goals (5), second in total points (39), third in total goals (16), and fifth in game winning goals per game (.450) while also ranking seventh in points per game (3.550), goals per game (1.450), and total assists (7). Kelsey Mirts is also ranked in the top 25 in five categories. She currently ranks sixth in total points (33), seventh in total assists (7), eighth in total goals (13), 12th in points per game (3), and 23rd in goals per game (1.180).
Columbia's dynamic goalkeeping duo, Madison Boyken and Erin Jones, also rank eighth (.360) and fourth (.180), respectively, in goals against per game.
Columbia College is back in action on Wednesday, October 4th when they host Stephens (Mo.) College in an AMC matchuhp. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. on R. Marvin Owens field.
