Columbia, Mo. – Today the NAIA national office announced the first NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll of the 2017-18 season. The Cougars, who ranked seventh in the preseason poll, moved up one spot to sixth after starting the season with a 9-1 record through their first 10 games.
Columbia College has been playing great basketball this season and currently rank in the top 20 nationally in nine different statistical categories. They rank fifth in turnover margin (5.900), seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (0.421), and 10th in both total 3-point field goals made (98) and total scoring offense (924). In addition, they rank 15th in scoring offense per game (92.400), 16th in 3-point field goals made per game (9.800), 16th in assist/turnover ratio (1.337), and 18th in both scoring margin (20.300) and field goal percentage (0.501).
Offensively, the Cougars are led by Nathan Biggs who is averaging a team high 12.9 points per game in 10 starts this season. He leads the team with a 0.554 shooting percentage on the year and is second on the team in rebounding averaging 5.0 per game. Defensively, Columbia College is led by Lucky Ogbomo who leads the team with seven blocks and 85 rebounds for an average of 8.5 per contest.
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, December 7th when they play host to the Avila (Mo.) University Eagles in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
