Cougars Remain Fifth In Recent Poll

Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the third regular season Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who cracked the top five for the first time in the programs history in the first regular season poll, remained fifth after defeating Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University last week to improve to 7-0 on the season.

The Cougars have been on fire to start the season as they have outscored their opponents 25-3 in their first seven games of the year. They currently rank second in the NAIA in total shutouts (5), eighth in shutouts per game (0.710), 15th in total goals (25), 17th in total assists (18), and 26th in goals per game (3.570).

Columbia College has been led by Laurie Frew who ranks in the top 25 in five different offensive categories. She currently sits fourth in the total game winning goals (3), 11th in game winning goals per game (0.430), 12th in total goals (9), 14th in total points (20), and 25th in goals per game (1.29). In addition to Frew, Kelsey Mirts has also been having a great season as she sits 16th in the NAIA in game winning goals (2), 18th in total points (18), and 25th in total goals (7).

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow, September 20th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University in the an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
