Cougar Lacrosse Comes Up Short 10-9

Marshall, Mo. – This evening the Columbia College men's lacrosse team traveled to Marshall, Missouri for their last regular season game where they were taking on the Missouri Valley College Vikings in a KCAC matchup. The Cougars came up short 10-9. Columbia is now 7-6 on the season.  

In the first quarter each team was able to put some goals on the board as the Vikings led by one, 3-2. The game continued the same way while in the second quarter the teams stayed neck and neck. Each side netted two goals to keep the match at a one goal deficit for the Cougars. Heading into the break the Cougars trailed 5-4.

With the second half underway, the Vikings were able to outscore the Cougars 2-1 in the third to hold a 7-5 lead with 15 minutes left to play. Columbia made a push in the fourth quarter and was able to find the goal four times, however the Vikings knocked in three goals to maintain that one goal lead and hold off the Cougars in the end. In a close contest Columbia fell by one, 10-9.

Goals were scored by: Cooper Heck (2), Ryan Burton (1), Trevor Doren (2), JT Huez (2), and Tyler Parrott (2).

Riley Mcdermont was in goal as he recorded seven saves tonight.

The lacrosse team has concluded regular season play and begin play in the KCAC Conference Tournament next week.
