Box Score Leavenworth, Kan. – This afternoon the seventh ranked Columbia College men's lacrosse team traveled to Leavenworth, Kansas to play in the KCAC Tournament Semifinal where they took on the Benedictine College Ravens. The Cougars fell 15-8 in the match. Columbia finishes the season with a 7-7 record.
With the tournament game underway, the Cougars jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play. However, in the second quarter the Ravens started heating up as they outscored the Cougars 4-1 to take a 5-4 lead at halftime.
After the break the Ravens had momentum on their side as they scored three goals in the third, while holding the Cougars scoreless. Heading into the final quarter the Ravens were up 8-4. Each team quickly scored in the fourth, but the Cougars still trailed by four goals. Columbia was making a push as they cut the lead to just two goals, 9-7, with under 10 minutes to go. Despite the Cougars cutting it close, the Ravens went on a run and scored six more goals, while the Cougars could only get one in the remainder of the game. Columbia dropped by a final score of 15-8.
Goals were scored by: Cooper Heck (1), Trevor Doren (2), Sam Crum (1), JT Huez (3), and Tyler Parrott (1).
Riley Mcdermont was in goal as he recorded 17 saves.
This concludes the lacrosse team's 2019 campaign, where they broke into the Top 10 rankings for the first time in program history. They will resume play next spring.
