Tomas Brock has announced the signing of
Casius Bell, Jr.,
Quinton Brown,
Jorge Bueno,
Jack Fritsche,
Kyle Lang,
Bruno Oliveira,
Beau Washer and
Isaiah Wilson for the 2019-20 season.
Casius Bell, Jr., a 6-4 junior guard, is transferring to Columbia from Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois where he was a two year starter for the Statesmen. The Terre Haute, Indiana native average 11 points and four rebounds while shooting 40% from behind the arc during his sophomore season.
Quinton Brown, a Columbia, Missouri native, recently helped his Rock Bridge High School team finish as the 2018-19 Missouri Class 5A State Champions. The athletic 6-5 freshman forward also finished third in the 2019 Class 5A High Jump and will join both the Men's Basketball and Men's Track and Field teams at Columbia College.
Jorge Bueno, a 6-0 junior guard, transfers to Columbia from Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California where he scored eight points per game and averaged two assists per game while shooting 42% from beyond the arc. The Madrid, Spain native helped led Cuesta to a Western State Conference championship while earning all-WSC Honorable Mention. Bueno also earned first team WSC all-academic honors for his work in the classroom.
Junior
Jack Fritsche, a native of Hamburg, Germany, transfers to Columbia from Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma. The 6-7 forward averaged six points and three rebounds per game while shooting 38% from the behind the arc during his sophomore season.
Kyle Lang, from Mason City, Iowa, joins the Cougars after transferring from North Iowa Area Community College. The 5-11 guard helped lead his team to an ICCAC regular season title while averaging eight points and two assists and shooting 40% from beyond the arc. For his efforts in the classroom, Lang was named ICCAC first team all-academic.
The lone sophomore of the class, Bruno Oliviera, transfers to Columbia from Eastern Wyoming College. The 6-6 forward originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, averaged three points per game while shooting 66% from the field during his freshman season in 2017-18.
Beau Washer, a 6-2 guard, will be a freshman for the Cougars after an excellent career at Father Tolton Catholic High School. The Columbia, Missouri native average 10 points, 6 rebounds and four assists during his career at Tolton while garnering all-district and all-state honors in 2018.
Another Columbia, Missouri native,
Isaiah Wilson, also prepped at Father Tolton Catholic High School before spending the past two seasons at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The 5-11 guard averaged seven points and two assists at UCCS. Both Washer and Wilson were members of Tolton's 2015-16 Missouri Class 3A State Championship team.
"We are very excited about this recruiting class," said Brock. "We needed to improve in our skill level in specific areas and this class strengthens those areas. Our staff did a good job identifying high character young men who come from winning basketball programs. We look forward to working with each of them as they begin their athletic and academic careers at Columbia College."
