Box Score St. Louis, Mo. - Columbia, Mo. - The 16
th-ranked Cougar men's basketball team defeated American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Harris-Stowe State University by a score of 68-54 on the road Thursday night to pick up their ninth straight victory. With the win, Columbia improves to 9-0 on the year and 3-0 play in AMC play while the Hornets fall to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The Cougars carried a 24-20 advantage into the halftime break after shooting 34 percent while limiting the Hornets to 32 percent shooting from the field.
Columbia extended their lead to 10 points at 43-33 midway through the second half, but the Hornets answered back cutting the deficit to five scoring eight of the next 11 points to make the score 46-41. A three by

Jobe Dillard stretched the Cougar lead back out to 10 at 51-41 with 5:57 left to play. The teams traded points from there with the Cougars maintaining a 10 point advantage, however, Columbia would grab their largest lead of the game at 60-46 with the help of four straight points. The Hornets would pull within 10 with a 4-0 run, but were unable to overcome the deficit as the Cougars would run away with the 68-54 victory.
Zach Rockers led the Cougars with 18 points while
Malik Ray chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars return to the court this Saturday, December 5
th when they return to St. Louis, Mo. to take on AMC foe St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
